Look, it may come as a surprise to discover that the children might also be wolves. But don’t worry, it’s cool.
So when we last OSMcast!ed we ended up trying a Japanese animated film from an acclaimed filmmaker, we ended up not liking the film nearly as much as we hoped. This time, we decided to go back to our standard method of talking about something we knew we already really liked. Which, so it goes, ended up being yet another Japanese animated film from yet another acclaimed filmmaker: Mamoru Hosoda’s and Studio Madhouse’s film, Wolf Children.
Of course we talk about many other things beforehand, like how magical farts can be, why dragons need to be kicked, and er, iPhone games?
Also, something or other about Norway? Geez what were we thinking…
Right now, it’s looking like our next update is happening right before April 1st. How… auspicious. But worry you not, OSMfriends. We take every update and podcast incredibly seriously. No joking around here!
This past weekend the OSMcast decided to hit up our local cinema and see the latest (and perhaps last) film by Hayao Miyazaki, and Studio Ghibli. And as it turns out, it’s kind of a conflicted movie. So here is our own conflicted take on this dual adaption of both the life of Jiro Horikoshi, the man who designed the Mitsubishi A6M Zero, as well as Tatsuo Hori’s short story, The Wind Has Risen. It’s probably not the most glowing review of the movie you’ll find around, and might a touch spoiler-y here and there.
But before you think we are all a bunch of sourpusses, we make sure to gush about some Japanese RPGs and some other things!

Kami-Con Season 6: Heartless in Wonderland, where the hearts roam free and wild and uh, less?
In our first con report of 2014, we decided to head down to Birmingham, AL to check out Kami-Con‘s sixth year. As it turns out, we had a great time at the con! Sadly, not such a great time in the city. However, you’ll be able to hear all about the good, the bad, and the awesome contained in audio form therein!
We also brought back our “REALLY real real” segments for this conquestable podcast. What are those, you may ask? The “REALLY real real” segments are when we go forth and talk to the con goers themselves on how they enjoyed the con and their own person highlights. It’s the most wonderful time of the year and so we decided to podcast about a most wonderful movie. Since it is the season of holidays, we brought out one of our favorites: Satoshi Kon’s and studio Madhouse’s film, Tokyo Godfathers. You know that lovable scamp of a movie all about three homeless people and a baby? Yeah, that movie. It’s great!
So grab some eggnog, curl up against the fire, and listen to an audio podcast all about a movie you should totally go and watch immediately.

But not the Ys. That would be different game entirely. Still a pretty awesome one, though.
