As the OSM of Evangelion continues, John sits down at virtual interview table with the voice of the ADV/Rebuild movies’ Shinji Ikari, Spike Spencer! But unlike Shinji, Spike has no issues getting into the robot. In fact, he tends to get into lots of them! He’s also a public speaker, voice coach, life coach, podcaster, real estate investor, just all sort of robots to get into. But what you should get into right now, is this interview! September 13, 2000. The Earth changed. It experienced a cataclysmic event that is known known as The Second Impact. Or it did in another world, another time. In this time, it’s August 24th, 2021. In this world, all of Evangelion can now be streamed in the United States.  With Netflix having the Evangelion TV show along with The End of Evangelion movies, and Amazon Prime Video having the Rebuild movies. So, on this day, in this world, we have begun the OSM of Evangelion Podcast Series. Four podcasts worth, to talk about this landmark show and movie franchise.

For the first episode we are talking about the Neon Genesis Evangelion TV series, along with The End of Evangelion movie. Written, directed, and lived by Hideaki Anno and animated by studio Gainax (along with assistance by studio Tatsunoko for the TV series, and Production I.G for the End of Evangelion movie).

Every once in a while, a show will come out of nowhere. And just, I dunno, slap you upside the head with it’s goodness? But that slap, it’s not always so fast. Sometimes, you get that slow slap. But when that slap hurts, it hurts so good. That’s ODDTAXI. Or Odd Taxi, which is an easier way to read it. It’s an anime that’s a gritty noir about a taxi driver and the people he takes places. The driver, is also a walrus. The show is about a lot of things. Oddly enough, so is this podcast!

OSMcast! Show #176: The OSMnews Returns Again! But This Time it’s E3

So it’s 2021 and supposedly things are returning to some semblance of, what some may call, normal. However, as it turns out, normal is still a ways away. And of course, we know that because of video games! For example, E3. Usually, the Electronic Entertainment Expo is a ginormous in person event with crazy press conferences, announcements, and media and people on Twitch and YouTube playing all these vertical slices of games that may or may not be real.

But not this year. This year it was all digital, where everyone stayed home and just watched the press conferences online like everyone else. And it became clear that not everyone decided to Bring Their “A” Game. And that’s OK. Neither did we!

OSMquest! Kawaii Caper: The Search for the Cold-Steel Sorcerer’s Swag, Part 2

So as it turns out, getting a puppy and seasonal allergies is a terrible combo, we do not recommend it. But with anime cons slowly returning to us, why not take a trip back to memory lane? That’s right, we’re back to our second episode of our OSMquest Kawaii Caper series! This time, we wrap up Thursday night and get into some Friday shenanigans. Cosplayers! A Dealer’s Room! PANELS. And more! Kawaii Caper is made by Ettin64, as a hack of Grant Howitt’s Honey Heist. 

It is the mid 2000’s in the beforetimes when anime conventions are still a thing and not a way to exacerbate a deadly public health crisis. CRONCH, the local anime convention in your mid-sized southern town is in its third year and has unexpectedly risen to regional prominence. And with that prominence comes sweet, sweet swag. It would be such a shame if something, or someone would happen to it. (Spoilers: We are those someones.)

Ever wonder what’s next in life? Perhaps even in the next life? Sure, reincarnation is a possibly, but have you ever considered reincarnating into a JRPG? Chances are you have as the genre of isekai is now an anime ever-presence, and people are just dying all over the place to score some sweet levels! But if you ever had to pick only one series to follow, might we suggest the series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime? It’s a light novel series by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah, but also comes in both anime and manga varieties! The anime is developed by studio Eight Bit, and the manga is illustrated by Taiki Kawakami.

PS I know it’s listed in the Time Cues but do not sleep on preordering Dear Brother that show is so good you don’t even know. Unless you do know, and have already preordered it.

So if you listen to this episode, we talk about puppies. And as Puppy Fever has caught on, it also grabbed Basil and Anna quite strongly. In short, they also have a new puppy! And well… As it turns out, getting a new puppy sure can take a lot out of ya! Also, while we absolutely recommend getting vaccinated as soon as one can… Maybe don’t adopt a new puppy in the same time frame. But Basil and Anna’s new puppy Yda is settling in just fine now, and by this Friday the core Alabama crew will be fully vaccinated! So that’s very exciting and hopefully that news will buoy you through the fact that we meant for past couple of weeks. But worry not about what comes next, for that is only Time Cues:

Well just gosh golly gee do we have a podcast-a-rooney for you! Wait, was any of those actual words? And based on what AWO says, should we have called it a podcast-a-rooni? Either way, one of the shows that has really captured the imagination of a lot of folks in the year 2021 was been this Marvel Studios show on Disney+. It’s called WandaVision, directed by Matt Shakman and written by Jac Schaeffer.. Chances are, you’ve heard about it! In fact it’s highly likely you have already watched it. And as is turns out, we have too! We liked it a lot, so much we went and made a podcast about it. It’s just like… way out, man.

But with a twist!  For our new OSMquest mini-series we are playing Kawaii Caper by Ettin64, as a hack of Grant Howitt’s Honey Heist.

It may not seem like it, but this is a podcast about hype and expectations. About how one can get so excited for something, then be utterly betrayed by it. But also how, upon a second viewing, one can then feel much better about the thing. But still feel betrayed! Yet, before the terrible betrayal, there is still a whole lot to enjoy about the thing. This thing is an anime CG movie called Dragon Quest: Your Story. Created by the animation studio Shirogumi, and directed and kinda written by Takashi Yamazaki. We say kinda, as it’s very much based on the story of Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride. But not… entirely.
